FHS’s Lambert takes 8th in Class 4A discus

BATON ROUGE —Franklinton’s Spencer Lambert was eighth in Class 4A for the discus during the state tournament Saturday evening at Bernie Moore Stadium on the campus of LSU.
Lambert threw the discus 118 feet. North Desoto’s Johnny Mitchell was the state champion with a throw of 161-8.
To reach the state meet, athletes must make it through two qualifying meets.
They have to finish in the top four in their events at the district meet.
The top four finish allows the athletes to advance to regionals.
At regionals, athletes must come in the top three to advance to the state meet.
