Mt. Hermon’s Bunch advances to Class B state meet

Mt. Hermon’s Keondre Bunch qualified for the state meet at Monday’s Region 3-B Meet that was held at McNeese State University.
Bunch finished third in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 12.10 seconds. J.S. Clark’s Brylan Tyler won the event in 11.71.
Monday’s meet was a qualifier, as the top three from each event made it to the state meet. The Class B state meet will take place on Thursday, May 2, at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium.
Bunch was fourth in the 200 with a 24.91. J.S. Clark’s Levier Joseph won in 24.17.
Jeremy Bickham took fourth in the discus with a throw of 105 feet. Bell City’s Ryan White won at 134-11.
Michquel Spears ran fifth in the 400 after clocking a 58.61. Joseph’s 53.39 was the winning time.
Tristan Brumfield had a pair of fifth-place tallies. He was fifth in the 300 hurdles at 48.31 and the long jump at 17-10. Spears took seventh in the long jump with a distance of 17-6. Episcopal of Acadian’s William Lemoine won the 300 hurdles in 43.20 and J.S Clark’s Char’von Roberts-Holmes topped the long jump at 20-2.
Bickham was sixth and seventh in the shot put and javelin, respectively. His shot put distance was 35-11 and he threw the javelin 117-11.6. Midland’s Derrick Berry won the shot put at 40-2 and Hathaway’s Zachary Phenice was the javelin winner with a throw of 167-8.
Mt. Hermon’s 4×100 and 4×200 relay teams were fifth and seventh, respectively, with times of 50.94 and 1 minute, 46 seconds. Both teams featured Brumfield, Holden Kelly, Spears and Keondre Bunch.
J.S. Clark won the 4×100 in 46.27 and Hathaway was victorious for the 4×200 in 1:38.
