Calvin Vise

Calvin “Muscles” Thomas Vise, 86, a resident of Franklinton, passed away in the early morning hours of March 31, 2019, joining his “sweet Rosie” that he missed so since her passing in 2014.
“Muscles” was a welder with Southern Natural Gas for 44 years. He started off his career in Alabama when he was 18, and then transferred to Toca in St. Bernard Parish. He transferred again in 1966 to Franklinton.
Calvin grew up about an hour north of Birmingham, Ala., where he met his sweet Rose. They married when he was 18. They were together for almost 63 years when she passed away in 2014. He missed her every day.
Calvin loved his huge family. One of things he liked best was to hear children running and playing down the hall. He said the whole house came alive with sounds of children playing.
He enjoyed being outside and watching things grow from the time he was just a small boy. He had a vegetable garden every year and was planning the one for this year that his children were going to help him with.
He is survived by: three brothers and a sister-in law, Charlie and Elaine Vise of St Bernard, Steve Vise of Birmingham and Sam Vise of Lafayette; nine children and their spouses, Jennifer and John Stites of McMinnville, Tenn., Beth and Russell Keaton of Bogalusa, Tommy Vise of Franklinton, Steve and Jennelyn Vise of Walker, Kenny Vise of Dripping Springs, Texas, Ginger and Frank Corcoran of Franklinton, Kim and Tommy Tynes of Franklinton, Jay and Lisa Vise of Metairie, and Marc and Suellen Vise of Franklinton; 26 grandchildren and spouses, Will and Katie Rachal, Charlie Rachal, Joe Stites, John and Anuja Stites, Dave and Michelle Stites, Sarah Keaton, Blake and Lindsey Fussell, Chris and Gina Keaton, Adam and Amy Keaton, Tommy and Karen Vise, Lauren and Austin LaSource, Kristen Vise, Neil Vise, Christopher Vise, Nathaniel Vise, Charles Vise, Daniel Vise, Micah and Alex Magee, Casey and Winn Smith, Colleen Corcoran, Ashton Corcoran, Danna and Mike Duet, Tommy Tynes Jr., Rhett Tynes, Elizabeth Vise and Emma Vise; 23 great-grandchildren, Matthew Rachal, Lenna Rachal, Sophia Keaton, McCauley Keaton, Maddux Fussell, Porter Fussell, Cannon Fussell, Abigail Keaton, Aubrey Keaton, Beau LaSource, Austin Vise, Hannah Vise, J.J. Vise, Abigail Vise, Lydia Vise, Walker Magee, Addison Smith, Kobi Duet, Kayelyn Robins, Trevor Vise, Alyssa Robins, Ryleigh Berthelot and Kadence Duet; and also numerous nieces, nephews and good friends.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Rose Vise; his parents, Tom and Burnie Vise; his sister, Octavia Vick; his sister-in-law, Linda Vise; his brother-in-law, Bob Vick; his granddaughter, Betsy Rachal; and his great-grandson, Ryan LaSource.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, April 5, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Crain Funeral Home in Franklinton and continuing on Saturday, April 6, from 9 a.m. until the time for the funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Percy Mac Frasier will officiate. Burial will follow in the Vise Family Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Vise III, Will Rachal, Charlie Rachal, Blake Fussell, Micah Magee, Rhett Tynes and Ashton Corcoran. Honorary pallbearers will be 11 additional grandsons and his Southern Natural friends.
