Lavern Case

Lavern Kennedy Case, 89, a resident of Bogalusa, passed away on March 5, 2019, at Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. Known affectionately to many as Maw Maw Vern, she was born in Morton, Miss., on July 10, 1929. She worked with her late husband, Charlie Case in a family owned retail shoe business, Case’s Shoes, for approximately 35 years. She was a member of Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church for over 20 years. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, swimming, and caring for her family.
Maw Maw Vern is survived by her children, Suzi C. Major, Charles Edward “Eddie” Case Jr. and wife Carol H. Case; three grandchildren, Nickie Case Leos and husband Toby, Tony A. Case and wife Kellie W. Case and Heather N. Major; and three beautiful great-grandchildren, Addison N. Leos, Jackson Leos and Will Case.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Case Sr.; a daughter, Belinda G. Henderson; a son-in-law, Danny R. Major Sr.; and her parents, Lennis W. and Eva Susan Kennedy.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 10, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home, 216 Alabama Ave. in Bogalusa, from 4:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m., and will continue at Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, 57500 Knapp Thomas Road in Bogalusa, on Monday, March 11, from 9 a.m. until the funeral at 11 a.m. The Rev. Pete Underwood will officiate the service and interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens on Spring Valley Road in Bogalusa, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and her daughter.
Pallbearers will be Scott Burt, Troy Trevelon, Joey Landrum, Buddy Jenkins, Johnathan Mizell and Gage Trevelon.
