Marvin Magee, 74, a resident of the Lawrence Creek Community, died Wednesday night, Feb. 6, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family, after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was retired from the Town of Franklinton after a career of over 20 years, serving as street supervisor for many years. Prior to his service with the town, Marvin worked at Borden, Inc. for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, growing tomatoes and working in his garden. Marvin was a longtime member of Lawrence Creek Missionary Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by: wife of 55 years, Linda Thomas Magee of Lawrence Creek; two daughters and sons-in-law, Angela and Ronald Palmire of Mobile, Ala., and Mary and Pat Polk of Lawrence Creek; son, Jeff Magee of Mt. Hermon; six grandchildren and a spouse, Madison Palmire and fiancé Dillan LaGear, Caitlyn Palmire, Blaine Polk, Brady Polk, Kayla Magee Bryson and Justin Bryson, and Landon Magee; brother, Joseph Magee of Lawrence Creek; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Renette Jenkins of Lawrence Creek, Cathy and Preston Singley of Tylertown, Miss.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles and Bobbie Sue Thomas; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Wilda and Buddy Branch, and Lucy and Jim McCain; special family member, Shanda Thomas; and also numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe Magee and Clearmenthia Jones Magee; brother and sister-in-law, Michael and JoAnn Magee; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Georgia and J.D. Moore; and brother-in-law, Billy Thomas.
Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 8, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, with Elder Duane Ball, Elder Richard Magee and Elder Don Jacobs officiating. Burial will follow in the Magee Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Blaine Polk, Brady Polk, Landon Magee, Justin Bryson, Dillan LeGear and Scott Magee. Honorary pallbearers will be Adney Whaley, Darron Magee, Faron Magee, Clint Magee, Jimmy Ray Thomas and Michael Singley.
