Boxing, Arts and Crafts Sale at RCC
The 2019 Rayburn Correctional Center Louisiana Department of Corrections Terry Wood Memorial “King of Hearts” Boxing Championship and Offender Art and Crafts Sale takes place on Thursday, Feb. 7.
Gates open at 4:30 p.m. and close at 7:30 p.m. with matches beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is paid at the door for $5, cash only, per person.
Proceeds help benefit the Bogalusa Help Center.
Cameras, cellphones and electronic devices are not permitted. Outside food and drinks are not allowed and smoking is not permitted on prison grounds.
Bogalusa High School football banquet
Bogalusa High School’s football team’s banquet takes place Monday, Feb. 11 in the school’s library at 6 p.m.
The event will have two guest speakers in Southeastern Louisiana University tight ends coach A.J. Hopp and Community Activist/Coach Wilbur Morris.
The event is free and open to the public.
Southern Miss baseball Winter Showcase Camp
The Southern Miss baseball Winter Showcase Camp scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 19, has been moved to Saturday, Jan. 26, and will be held at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
The camp will still take place at 11 a.m., with sign-in beginning at 10 a.m. It provides a great opportunity for players ranging from high school freshman to junior college sophomores (junior college freshmen must be academic qualifier).
Participants will be given a chance to have their skills toned by college coaches receive specific instruction to their defensive position, speed training to improve their 60 time, as well as hitting at Pete Taylor Park. Any pitcher who is a dual player will be able to participate at both positions. Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt. Lunch will not be provided.
The camp will be limited to the first 100 applicants and the cost is $155 per camper.
The camps during the fall will take place at Pete Taylor Park/Hill Denson Field.
Camp registration for all Southern Miss baseball camps can take place at www.southernmissbaseballcamps.com. Walk-ups are welcome. USM camps are open to any and all entrants limited only by number, age, grade level and/or gender.
