Elsie Branch Crain passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2018, at Slidell Memorial Hospital at the age of 94. She was born on Dec. 29, 1923, in Walthall County, Miss.
She was a long-time member of Union Heritage Baptist Church in Bogalusa.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her son, Larry (Zoraida) Payne of Houston, Texas; two daughters, Lavene (William) Stogner of Franklinton, and Faye (George) Kitchens of Bentonville, Ark.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Doyle Crain; her parents, Oscar and Danie Branch; her daughter, Myrna Fortenberry; and four brothers, Rev. Enos Branch, Willis Branch, Ottis Branch, and Lavelle Branch. She was also preceded by her two sisters, Mamie McBeth and Susie Taylor.
The service celebrating Mrs. Crain’s life will be on Saturday, Dec. 22, at Union Heritage Baptist Church in Bogalusa. The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. Visitation will continue until the service begins at 1 p.m. Bro. Joseph Porter will officiate. Interment will follow at Centerville Baptist Church cemetery in Walthall County.
Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home in Bogalusa has been entrusted with Mrs. Crain’s arrangements.
