Bogalusa High School’s T.J. Peyton
Bogalusa’s T.J. Peyton is a senior and plays point guard for the basketball team.
Last season, Peyton was a first-team all-district player last season.
“We had him for summer league last year (2017) and he transferred to a school in Mississippi and then he transferred back. Not having another stable ball handler probably hurt us a little bit more last year. It was several things, but missing his leadership, I thought, hurt the team last year. Having him back, he’s the epitome of calm, cool and collected. He doesn’t get excitable like a lot of the other guys when things go bad. He keeps a good head on his shoulder. Really, all I have to go on for him so far is summer league. Last year’s summer league, and this year, he was back with us for a little bit of the summer league at the end. He’s a good contributor, he’s got a good head on his shoulders and we look forward to watching him participate in games that really matter this fall.”
What do you enjoy most about playing your sport?
It makes me happy and makes me forget about everything that’s going on for you.
What do you like best about being a student athlete?
The teachers will kind of look at you different, try to help you out more, things like that.
Who has been the most influential person in your school sports career? Why?
My cousin (former Bogalusa basketball player Laster Hills) because he always told me to keep my head up.
Who is your favorite athlete? Why?
Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade. I’ve been watching Dwyane Wade for a long time. He’s always got like a good personality when he’s on the court and I like that.
Favorite team?
Miami Heat.
Best thing about living in Washington Parish?
The people around here are good to me.
