A 19-year-old Bogalusa woman was killed late Tuesday evening in a single-vehicle crash in Washington Parish, according to Trooper Dustin Dwight of the Louisiana State Police.

Dwight said that troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L responded Tuesday at approximately 10:50 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash on Louisiana Highway 10, approximately six miles east of Louisiana Highway 62 in the parish. The crash claimed the life of Cristal Camacho, 19, of Bogalusa.

Dwight said that the initial on-scene investigation led troopers to determine that the crash occurred as Camacho was driving a 2008 Dodge Avenger eastbound on Highway 10. As the vehicle entered a left-hand curve, it exited the right side of the roadway and crashed into a pine tree, he said.

Despite being properly restrained, Camacho sustained fatal injuries in the crash. She was pronounced deceased on-scene by the Washington Parish Coroner’s Office. Dwight said that impairment is not suspected to be a contributing factor in this crash. As part of the on-going investigation, blood samples were collected and will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
