Aristine Johnson

Aristine McKelphin was born Nov. 23, 1932, to the late Etta and Hosie McKelphin. She was later married to the late Willie Johnson when she became Aristine Johnson. She passed Oct. 22, 2018, at Lakeview Hospital in Covington.

At an early age, Aristine Johnson joined Mt. Carmel Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Dr. Tom Bailey Jr. Aristine was an active servant for the Lord. While attending Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, she was an active member of the Missions Ministry and Choir where she loved singing and worshipping the Lord. Later, she became a member of Christ Way Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Michael Oree and rededicated her life to Christ.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her children: Angela (Kobely) Clarke of Hammond, Emma Gatlin of Bogalusa, Williestine Watson of Atlanta, Ga., Minister Alton Johnson, Willie A. Johnson, Larry Johnson and Robert E. Johnson, all of Bogalusa; and a host of nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Johnson; parents, Hosie and Etta McKelphin; her daughters, Christine May and Ernestine Brister; her son, Johnnie Lee Johnson; her brothers, Mr. Herbert McKelphin and Mr. Willie B. McKelphin; her sister, Ms. Ernestine Austin Young; her daughters-in law, LaTonya (Shun) Johnson, Gertrude Hughs Johnson and Valarie Galen Johnson; her sons-in-law, Clarence Gatlin and Ray Brister; and her grandchildren, Mitchell Johnson and Senior Airman Myron Roderick Harriel.

The visitation was 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa. The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with the Rev. Douglas Hart, officiating, and the Rev. Michael O’Ree, eulogist.
