Voters League to hold MLK celebration

The Bogalusa Voters League’s annual celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held Monday, Jan. 15, beginning at 1 p.m.
The marchers will travel from the site of the old Bogalusa Voters League building, at the corner of North Avenue and MLK Drive, to the Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church on Poplas Street. The Rev. Dr. Raymond Mims is the pastor.
The speaker will be Minister Keith Merrill, associate minister of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where the Rev. Dr. M.J. Galloway is the pastor.
Willie E. Breaux will serve as this year’s “Grand Madam.” The Bogalusa Voters League will pay tribute to the late Gayle Jenkins in her honor for the name change of Central School Auditorium, to Gayle Jenkins Memorial Auditorium. The Rev. Marvin Austin Jr. will serve as this year’s master of ceremony.
