BOYS

Varnado topped by Hannan
Varnado came up short in a 62-58 loss to Archbishop Hannan in last Friday’s home game.
Varnado’s James Williams led all scorers with 22 points. Williams hit a 3-pointer for the Wildcats.
Armontee Kemp recorded 12 points and he knocked down a three.
Gary Crumedy posted eight points while Ardarryl McGowan and Kim McGowan tallied seven points each and JaDarrell Magee added two. Ardarryl McGowan hit two threes while Kim McGowan had one.
Varnado’s next game is set for Monday, Jan. 8 against Albany at home.

Varnado defeats Pine
Varnado’s Armontee Kemp scored a game-high 26 points, helping the Wildcats to a 76-45 victory over Pine in a road game on Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Kemp hit four 3-pointers.
Kemp was one of 10 Wildcats to hit the scoring column.
Gary Crumedy scored 14 points that included a pair of 3-pointers.
Kim McGowan recorded seven points while James Williams posted six, Brandon Lee had five, Adrian Bickham and Jarodrick Robinson tallied four each, Jadarrell Magee and Ardarryl McGowan had three each and Jacorrius Bickham added two for the Wildcats.
Rayshaun Bell and Jordan Anderson tallied 12 points each to top Pine. Bell knocked down four 3-pointers.
Kaz Warren posted 10 points and he hit a 3-pointer.
Zavier Elzie totaled five points and Markell Cotton and Tristan Jones added three each for the Raiders.
Pine began play in the Hannan Hustle Tournament at Archbishop Hannan. The tournament continues today and tomorrow. Today’s start time is determined by whether Pine won or lost yesterday.

Varnado wins against Bogalusa
Varnado’s Armontee Kemp and James Williams hit the 20-point mark, as the Wildcats defeated Bogalusa, 89-74, in a road game that took place Friday, Dec. 15.
Kemp led everybody with 21 points and he hit a 3-pointer.
Williams put up 20 points and he also hit a three.
Gary Crumedy scored 13 points that included a pair of 3-pointers.
Jadarrell Magee scored eight points while Kim McGowan posted seven, Ardarryl McGowan and Brandon Lee tallied six each, Adrian Bickham had three, JoNathan Green and Jacorrius Bickham posted two each and Cameron Allen added one for the Wildcats. Kim McGowan hit a three for Varnado.
Dianté Lenoir scored 19 points to lead Bogalusa
DaJuan Powell posted 14 points that included a 3-pointer.
Braedtrick Whittine put up 12 points and he hit a three.
Chance Turner tallied 11 points and he was successful twice from beyond the arc.
Tyrese Rousell recorded eight points while Shelton Stewart had five, Quintay Henry tallied three and Charles Taylor added two. Stewart and Henry hit a 3-pointer each for the Lumberjacks.

GIRLS

Varnado falls to Archbishop Hannan
Varnado’s Lady Kittens suffered a 41-20 loss to Archbishop Hannan in a home game that took place last Friday.
Tanish Brister led Varnado with seven points that included a pair of 3-pointers.
Jaden Foster posted six points while Destiny Keys tallied four and Jamonica Dillon had three for the Lady Kittens. Dillon recorded a three.
Varnado is back in action Tuesday, Jan. 9 at home against Pine.

Pine wins against Varnado
Pine’s Lady Raiders defeated Varnado, 46-27, in a home game that took place Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Pine’s Savannah Kennedy tallied a game-high 16 points.
Elizabeth Barber posted 13 points that included a pair of 3-pointers.
Raina Crosby tallied six points while Kaylyn Ginn had five, McKayla Jordan posted three, Jasmine Crosby put up two and Trayanna Williams added one in the victory. Raina Crosby and Ginn hit a 3-pointer each for Pine.
Quierra Bickham was Varnado’s leading scorer with 10 points. Bickham made a 3-pointer.
Jaden Foster recorded six points while Jamonica Dillon posted five, Destiny Keys tallied four and Tanisha Brister had two for Varnado.
Pine played St. Scholastica Academy following yesterday’s press time.

Bogalusa defeats Varnado
Bogalusa’s Shaunte Chatmon recorded a double-double in a 59-19 win over Varnado at home Dec. 15.
Chatmon posted 21 points and pulled down 11 rebounds in the victory.
Quantasia Lewis tallied 19 points and eight boards. She also hit a 3-pointer.
Chloe Foster recorded seven points and five boards. She was successful once from long range.
Bianca Pittman and Samara White put up six points and two rebounds each.
Prayja Bickham had five points and a rebound.
Mary Ladner added two rebounds for the Lady Jacks.
Quierra Bickham led Varnado with seven points.
Jaden Foster posted six points hwile Brittany Smith had three, Jamonica Dillon posted two and Tanisha Brister and Destiny Keys added one each.
