Freeda Remington

Freeda Corkern Remington, born Aug. 9, 1927, was called home to be with the Lord on Oct. 25, 2017, at the age of 90.
Freeda was a route carrier for the Bogalusa Daily News for 42 years, serving the Pine, Thomas and Stateline communities. She also was a member of the Bogalusa Lions Club and a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church in Bogalusa.
She leaves behind her husband of 71-1/2 years, M.G. “Mel” Remington; three daughters, Kathy Remington, Prescilla Ann Smith and her husband Mike and Carla Altenbach and her husband Jon; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Murray and Prescilla Galloway Corkern; three brothers, Ray Corkern, Roy Corkern and Carl Corkern; and two sisters, Hilda Corkern Provost and Wilda Corkern Myles.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 27, beginning at 6 p.m. until 10 p.m., and will continue Saturday, Oct. 28, after 8 a.m., until the service time at 11 a.m. The Rev. Joe Roszelle will officiate the services, with the interment to follow in the Isabel Baptist Church Cemetery in the Isabel community.
