Buford Mizell

Buford Mizell, 89, a resident of the Springhill/Enon community, died Thursday morning, Oct. 5, 2017, at his home.

He was a United States Army veteran and later a member of the Louisiana National Guard for 35 years. Buford was a business teacher at Sullivan Vocational School for over 30 years. He was a longtime member and deacon of Enon Baptist Church.

Buford enjoyed hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He also enjoyed camping with his family all along the Gulf Coast and liked to visit with his neighbors, friends and family.

He is survived by: his wife of 64 years, Martha Bateman Mizell of the Enon/Springhill community; two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Dawn Mizell, and Steve and Patty Mizell, all of the Enon/Springhill community; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mark Watson of Enon/Springhill community; three grandchildren and a spouse, Brandi Mayeaux and Seth Mayeaux, Robert Mizell, and Tyler Mizell; a great-granddaughter, Addison Soileau; and a sister, Joann Mizell of Isabel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Mizell and Beatrice Reviere Mizell; and a brother, Richard A. Mizell.

Visitation was at Crain Funeral Home on Friday, Oct. 6, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. A graveside funeral service with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, in the Mizell Cemetery near Enon.

Pallbearers will be Steve Mizell, Greg Mizell, Robert Mizell, Tyler Mizell and Mark Watson.
