Work together to clean up Pearl River

The Pearl River Clean Sweep is one week from today, and, especially if you love the wild places in the great outdoors, the river needs you to take back what other human beings have thrust upon its waters. That includes plastic, Styrofoam, and other trash that could be harmful or even fatal to animals and the overall ecosystem.

The Daily News encourages you to grab a boat, and go out on Sept. 23 and get to work to help heal the planet.

But first you have to register at pearlriverkeeper.com online and then select the Louisiana Upper Pearl River location.

If you join in the “First annual Pearl River Clean Sweep,” you will not only have memories of being there from year one, you will also have the soul-deep pleasure of knowing that you did everything in your power to help the Earth and all those creatures that make this planet their home.

Plus, there’s a bonus. Dockside Marine will host an “after party” at the Poole’s Bluff pavilion from 8 a.m. until noon, with jambalaya and beverages provided to participants.

There’s no reason that everyone with a boat shouldn’t take part in this important event.
