Legends All-Pro Football Camp is in June
The 15th annual Legends All-Pro Football Camp will take place Thursday, June 15, at Lewis V. Murray Jr. Stadium on the campus of Bogalusa High School.
The event, which runs from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., will feature Chris McLaurin. McLaurin is the commissioner of the Chinese Football League.
Alfred Payton, who was a linebacker, is in the Canadian Football League Hall of Fame and will also be there. His son Edrid is a former University of Louisiana at Lafayette basketball player and currently plays with the Orlando Magic.
They are also attempting to get San Francisco running back Tim Hightower.
The camp will also have former NFL players Robert Smith and Sean Smith, Nichols State University coach Greg Greeley, former Southeastern Louisiana University player Kenneth McSwain and Bogalusa head football coach David Roberts.
The camp director is Bogalusa assistant football and baseball coach Bruce Plummer, who is a former NFL player and scout.

Shoot for Success Basketball Camp
The Shoot for Success Basketball Camp will take place at Franklinton High School from June 21-23, for third through eighth graders.
The clinic, which costs $60, runs from 8 a.m. until noon the first two days and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. the final day. Campers must be signed up and paid by June 16.
The cost includes T-shirt and lunch/food for all three days.
The camp will work on the basic fundamentals of basketball and promote teamwork and competition. Participants will work with all Franklinton High School coaches and current Demons’ players.
There will be practice sessions the first two days of the camp. On the final day, participants will play two five-on-five games and there will be a guest speaker. The teams will be based on age and skill level.
Parents and fans may attend the games. Each camper receives two tickets for entry. Admission is $3 without a ticket.

Battle of the Business Softball Tournament
The Battle of the Business Softball Tournament takes place Saturday, June 17, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Franklinton girls’ softball field at 200 Camp Road.
The entry fee is $200 per team and each squad is guaranteed to play three games.
Each team must have six men and three women and games are 55 minutes with no new inning starting with five minutes left.
Tournament day entries are welcome.
The event, which is sponsored by the Franklinton Chamber of Commerce, will also feature door prizes, 50/50 drawing and food.

Sports Work Academy Basketball Camp occurs in June
The Sports Work Academy Basketball Camp will be held Saturday, June 17, at the Bogalusa YMCA gym.
Registration for the 11th annual event begins at 8:30 a.m. that day and costs $20.
This year’s coaching staff includes camp directors Michael Galloway and Nakita Wilson, coaching staff captain Murrell Galloway, and special guest coaches Bradford T. Brown, Orlando Lundie and Monio Mark II.
Michael Galloway is a 1985 Bogalusa High School graduate while Wilson is a former player with LSU and the Portland Trail Blazers. Murrell Galloway is a 1981 Bogalusa High School graduate. Brown, a 1988 Bogalusa High School graduate, is the CEO of Bradford Speaks Life Management, while Lundie is a former Bogalusa High School three-sport star who graduated in 1983 from Bogalusa High School and played at Mississippi State University. Mark is a former star at SUI Ross State University.

40 & 8 golf tournament is next month
The 40 & 8 Golf Tournament takes place July 8 at the Bogalusa Country Club to help benefit the veterans and school children.
The 40 & 8 organization gives nurses’ scholarships, flags for first graders parish wide, ponemah wreaths for veterans headstones, flags for veterans grave sites and help for needy veterans.
The tournament begins at 8 a.m. Registration for the 2-person scramble costs $100 per person. The fee includes, food, drinks and the tournament. There will be a silent auction. There will also be a closest-to-the-hole contest, hole-in-one and a free mulligan.
Following the tournament, there will be a putting tournament. The fee is $5 per putt and the winner will split the pot.
Sponsorships are available and cost between $50 and $500. The sponsorship deadline is June 23.
There is no deadline for playing in the tournament.

Demon Baseball Camp later this month
The 2017 Demon Baseball Camp takes place June 26-29 at Franklinton High School’s baseball field.
The total skills camp is for ages 5-14.
Fundamentals of the game will be taught and emphasized through drills and team play. Participants will be placed into groups according to their age and abilities.
Campers 5-8 year old will go from 9 a.m. until noon and 9-14s attend from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The fees are $50 for morning campers and $100 for all day participants.
Each camper will receive a camp T-shirt.

Bogalusa Baseball Summer Camp in July
The Bogalusa Baseball Camp takes place July 26-28 at the Bogalusa Sports Complex.
Hitting, position specific fundamentals, throwing, base running, bunting and sliding will be covered.
The clinic is for ages 4 through 15.
The clinic runs from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. for 4-6s and 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. for 7-15s.
The cost is $50 for 4-6s and $75 for 7-15s.
The fee includes a T-shirt and lunch will be provided for ages 7-15.
Registration deadline is July 12.
