Just 11 days after a community partnership assembled by the United Way erected a “Born Learning Trail” near the popular Splash Pad in Cassidy Park, it was discovered that one instructional sign was torn down and the vandals apparently tried to pull several others off of their posts. The discovery was made Tuesday.
The signs were meant to guide parents or other caretakers with small children, to lead exercises that stimulate various types of learning.
“At first, you think you can’t have anything nice,” said Landon Tims, director of parks and recreation for the city of Bogalusa. “Second, you think you’re not going to let punk kids ruin something nice for the community.”
Tims said the signs would probably be replaced by Wednesday, and added that the city is offering a reward to anyone who can help identify the perpetrators.
The reward of $500 will go to anyone who provides information that leads to an arrest. To be eligible, call the Bogalusa Police Department at 985-732-3611.
