Webb Wayne Bennett, of Bogalusa, died at his home on May 24, 2017.

He was born in New Orleans on Dec. 26, 1958, to Allen and Corine Bennett, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Wilma “Sissy” Fournet Bennett of Bogalusa; his older brother, Drew Allen Bennett of West Plains, Mo.; and a host of extended family and friends.

As a child, he survived several life-threatening illnesses, which in later life gave him the courage to battle cancer, a fight he has conducted since April of 2006 when he was told he had six months to live.

Webb and Sissy were married in Bogalusa, on Dec. 21, 1985. He was a devoted husband who adored his wife, building a life around her. Webb loved his family, the Saints, hunting, fishing and the joy of the outdoors. He had a unique sense of humor, loved a good joke, and laughed with gusto and abandon.

Webb often tried to show a rough exterior, but he could never hide the very caring heart that he had inside. The family expresses appreciation to the many doctors, nurses, and emergency technicians who extended Webb’s life and cared for him over the years.

Webb donated his remains to the LSU School of Medicine, and per his wishes, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, Webb asked that donations be made to Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at 1203 South Tyler, Covington, LA 70433.
