Relay brunch set for Friday

The Washington Parish Relay for Life will hold its Cancer Survivors’ Brunch on Friday, and local teams are gearing up for the premiere event, which will take place next Friday, May 12, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. at Goodyear Park in Bogalusa.

The Relay for Life is a daylong festival (because cancer never sleeps), which includes food, music, games, raffles, and more. This year’s event, which is believed to be the 21st in Washington Parish, will feature a Louisiana-themed cook-off. And, as usual, the evening will be capped off with what many Relayers consider a truly moving candlelit luminaria ceremony, to honor cancer survivors and to remember those victims of the disease who have passed on.

All money raised goes to the American Cancer Society to help fund cancer research and programs for cancer patients.

The ACS invites everyone to come out and enjoy a long day of fun for a worthy cause.

Teams that are interested in signing up should contact Michelle Goode at 985-516-0311 or michellemelancon@bellsouth.net. Luminarias can be purchased online at www.RelayforLife.org/WashingtonLA or at the Relay for Life next Friday.
