Oneida Thomas

Oneida Stringer Thomas, 96, died Sunday, April 16, 2017, in her home.

She was a resident of Bogalusa and a member of Pine Grove Landmark Missionary Baptist Church. She worked in the Garment Factory, Dexter School cafeteria, and Travis Grocery and Market.

She is survived by two sons, Travis (Denise) Thomas of Bogalusa and Jerry (Nancy) Thomas of Sandy Hook, Miss.; two daughters, Janell (Charles) Lumpkin of McNeil, Miss., and Brenda McNutt, Burkeville, Texas; three sisters, Kathren Crain of Denham Springs, Peggy Populis of Walker, and Betty Rothermel of Aztec, N.M.; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 27 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ottis Stringer and Lille Lowery Stringer; her husband, Virgil Thomas; her son, V.L. Thomas; two brothers, Woodrow and Billy Stringer; three sisters, Thelma Thomas, Zelia Crowe and Mary Bateman Adams; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation was held Tuesday, April 18, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and will continue Wednesday morning, April 19, at 9 a.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. in the chapel. Rev. Dewayne Ball and Rev. Clyde Cooper will officiate. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shane Thomas, Craig Hartzog, Chad Thomas, Wendell Lumpkin, Kendall Lumpkin, Alan Lumpkin and Terrell Neal.
