Lady Raiders compete in meet at Southeastern

Pine’s track-and-field team competed in a large meet last Friday, as the Lady Raiders went to the St. Thomas Aquinas Judy-Baehr Relays that took place at Southeastern Louisiana University.
The event had 17 teams tally at least one point.
Walker won the meet with 105 points with Parkview Baptist scoring 88 points for second. Isidore Newman (81) was third, followed by St. Thomas Aquinas (60) and Loranger (45).
Pine was the only local team in the meet.
Alyssa Vargas took 13th in the long jump with a distance of 12 feet, 1 inch. Teammate Lacey Fletcher was next at 11-7.25. Loranger’s Lyric George won at 16-6.5.
Pine’s Ateria Williams ran the 100 meters in 14.73 seconds for 15th place while teammate Vargas was 21st with a time of 15.32. Loranger’s Kiana Foster was the winner in 12.65.
Macie Carter was 15th and 17th in the discus and shot put respectively. She threw the discus 57-7 and had a distance in the shot put of 19-7.
Springfield’s Sarah Simeon won the discus at 97-2 while Parkview Baptist’s Taylor Treat was the shot put winner at 33-8.75.
Pine’s Anna Branch (1:27) and Lauren Richardson (1:37) were 23rd and 25th in the 400, as Northlake Christian’s Malia Cazalot won in 1:01.
The Lady Raiders’ 4×200 relay team was 14th with a time of 2:12. The runners were Vargas, Branch, Williams and Fletcher.
Walker won in 1:46.
