BOYS
Cooper, Galloway have solid games in Pine victory
Pine’s Trey Cooper and Ty Galloway recorded huge games, helping the Raiders defeat Pope John Paul II, 81-66, in Friday’s District 10-2A contest on Senior Night.
Cooper had a big time double-double. He scored 37 points and pulled down 16 rebounds. Cooper also hit three 3-pointers.
Galloway scored 25 points and nailed five from beyond the arc.
Christian Warren posted 11 points and hit a three.
Dillon Morris and Jordan Anderson tallied three each and Chase Cooper added two in the win. Anderson hit a 3-pointer.
Pine begins play in the District 10-2A Tournament today.
Varnado downs Ridgewood
Varnado’s Errol Varnado posted 19 points for the Wildcats in a 64-11 win over Ridgewood in a District 8-1A contest held on the road.
Varnado hit a 3-pointer.
Nine players hit the scoring column for the Wildcats.
JoNathan Green posted 10 points.
Armontee Kemp recorded nine points while Jacorius Bickham had seven, Ardarryl McGowan put up six, Andre Jones logged five, JaKyle Newkirk had four and Damon Kirsh and Jadarrius Magee added two each in the victory.
Varnado was 11-12 overall and 5-2 in district play at press time.
Ridgewood is 0-14 overall and 0-7 in league play.
Varnado victorious over Jewel Sumner
Varnado’s Errol Varnado led the Wildcats with 21 points in an 80-47 victory over Jewel Sumner in a home game Tuesday, Jan. 31.
Varnado also knocked down a 3-pointer.
Xavier Moses and JaKyle Newkirk tallied 11 each. Newkirk nailed four 3-pointers.
Andre Jones posted nine points while Armontee Kemp had seven. Damon Kirsh and Jadarrius Magee tallied five each while James Williams put up four and Ardarryl McGowan, Gary Crumedy and JoNathan Green added two each.
The win put Varnado at 10-12 and it was the Wildcats’ fourth win in a row. The
Pine falls to Archbishop Hannan
Pine suffered a 94-66 loss to Archbishop Hannan in a road contest held Tuesday, Jan. 31 in District 10-2A action.
Pine trailed by five with 4:40 left, but struggled down the stretch.
Trey Cooper and Ty Galloway had big games for the Raiders. Cooper led the team with 30 points that included two 3-pointers.
Galloway put up 25 points and knocked down seven shots from beyond the arc.
Christian Warren scored eight points that included two threes while Dillon Morris scored three points on a three.
The Raiders were successful on 12 3-pointers.

Bogalusa falls to Albany
Bogalusa’s Lady Jacks suffered an 80-33 loss to Albany in a District 7-3A road game Monday.
Diamond Martin led the Lady Jacks with 12 points.
Bianca Pittman posted nine points while Quantasia Lewis recorded eight and Asia Nelson and Prayja Bickham added two each.
Bogalusa is 9-14 overall and 0-7 in district. The Lady Jacks play their final regular season game at home against Amite on Thursday with tip off set for 6 p.m.
Albany, which made it to the Class 3A quarterfinals last season, is 18-14 overall and 6-1 in district.
Bowling Green victorious over Adams County Christian School
Bowling Green’s McKinley Seal and Hollie Waskom led the Lady Buccaneers in scoring, as the team beat Adams County Christian School, 64-41, in a home game that was held Friday.
Seal was Bowling Green’s top scorer with 21 points. Seal hit 8-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. Seal also pulled down a pair of rebounds, dished out four assists and made five steals.
Waskom posted 18 points and hit six of her 11 field-goal attempts. Waskom was also 2-for-4 from beyond the arc and she knocked down four of her six free throws. Waskom posted an assist, a block and six steals.
Hallie Robertson recorded nine points on 3-of-5 in field goals, which were all threes. Robertson grabbed three boards and had an assist and a steal.
Katelin Junkins posted eight points, five boards, an assist and a steal.
Sydney Watson had four points, two rebounds and three steals.
Shelby McDonald and Allie McCain added two points each. McDonald made four steals.
Anna Beninato made two steals in Bowling Green’s win.
For the game, Bowling Green hit 51.1 percent of its shots (24-of-47).
Bowling Green begins play in the District 5AAA Tournament on Friday at Bowling Green. The Lady Bucs are the top seed and play the winner of fourth-seeded Central Private School and fifth-seeded Ben’s Ford Christian School. Tip off for Friday’s game is at 6:30 p.m.

Three Pine players scored in double-figures, as the Lady Raiders defeated Pope John Paul II, 50-20, in a District 10-2A contest at home Friday on Senior Night.
Breyanna Brown led the Lady Raiders with 16 points.
Bethany McGinnis was just a point behind and Savannah Kennedy tallied 11 points in the victory.
Trayanna Williams posted five points while McKayla Jordan recorded two and Karley Voth added one.
Pine begins play in the District 10-2A Tournament today.
