One of the greatest moments for an athlete or the people who support that player is seeing them move up to the next level of competition.

Wednesday morning in Varnado High School’s cafeteria, family, friends, coaches, teammates, members of Varnado’s faculty and supporters watched defensive end Andre Jones sign his letter of intent to attend the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.

It was a great way to celebrate signing day.

Jones will be playing football for the Ragin’ Cajuns.

It was a great morning for all involved and it’s been a great week for Jones, who was named a first-team all-state defensive lineman by the Louisiana Football Coaches Association last Thursday after having a solid season for the Wildcats.

Congratulations to Jones on his decision. It’s always great seeing hard work on the field and the classroom come to fruition.
