Roosevelt Nunnery

Brother Roosevelt Nunnery, who was affectionately known as “Roe,” was born on Feb. 26, 1952 to Mr. Daniel Nunnery and Birdie Lee Nunnery. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and brother-in-law. Roosevelt said his farewell to his loved ones, and went home to eternal rest.

Roosevelt attended New Orleans City Schools. He was employed by Poole Lumber Company until he retired in 2014. He was a member of Glorious Church in White Sand, Miss.

Roosevelt leaves his most cherished memories, his devoted and loving wife, Linda Nunnery; his daughter, Keeunta’ LaJoy Nunnery, and his very, very special granddaughter, Keyanna Olivia Nunnery- COJ of Bogalusa; five brothers, Carl Bates of Metairie, Jesses Bates of LaPlace, Donald Ray Nunnery of Liberty, Miss., Mathew Nunnery of New Orleans, and James Nunnery of Kentucky; three sisters, Bettie’rue Nunnery McGee (Burnell Sr.) of Kenner, Leontine Dennis of New Orleans, and Mildred Richardson of New Orleans; brothers-in-law, Jackie, Robert (Brenda), Rev. Victor (Charlotte), Ceasar (Cansandra), Anthony (Yolanda), Ricky (Carol Ann) Robinson of Bogalusa; sisters-in-law, Mary Robinson, Victoria Jefferson, Yvonne (Walter) James, Willoya (Frederick) Magee of Bogalusa, Letina (Tarquin) Mearidy of Covington; and numerous relatives and friends.

Roosevelt was preceded in death by his mother and father, Daniel and Birdie Lee Nunnery; daughter, Sonya Nunnery, mother and father-in-law, Rev. and Sis. Clarence Robins; and brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Melissa Robinson, Jr.

The visitation will be 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Jan. 21, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa. The funeral will follow at noon with the Rev. Victor Robinson, officiating. Interment will be in Robinson Cemetery. Dennis Mortuary-New Orleans, is in charge of arrangements.
