The Bogalusa City Council will hold an emergency council meeting Friday at noon, in order to hire a special attorney for landfill negotiations.

Washington Parish’s Solid Waste Committee has announced it plans to offer a renewed contract to the existing private operator of Choctaw Landfill. The parish’s landfill is paid for through a joint agreement between Bogalusa and the parish. Bogalusa Mayor Wendy Perrette said the city needs to hire a lawyer who can negotiate on behalf of the city with the parish’s legal team.

“It’s just basically I need permission to hire an attorney so the two attorneys can do their job,” said Perrette, when asked the reason for the meeting.

The meeting will be at Bogalusa City Hall.
