Parish president urges caution in face of winter weather advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for freezing rain and sleet from noon Friday, Jan. 6 to midnight Friday night.

Parish President Richard N. Thomas, JR would like to take this time to urge all residents of Washington Parish to begin preparing now for the possibility of slippery roads beginning tomorrow afternoon. Light wintry accumulations may create slick spots on mainly elevated roadways such as bridges and overpasses.

In addition to the above, freeze and hard freeze warnings may be issued for Saturday night as the wind chill readings will be in the teens. The lows Saturday and Sunday morning will be in the mid 20’s.

Please remember to take the necessary steps to protect your pets, plants and pipes. Also check on any neighbors and family to ensure they have safe, adequate heating.

Our office of emergency preparedness will continue to monitor the weather and will post updates to their Facebook page and at www.washingtonparishalerts.org
