Lumberjack All-Star Basketball Clinic is later this month

The Lumberjack All-Star Basketball Clinic takes place June 27-30 in the Bogalusa High School Gym.

The camp, which is for boys and girls ages 5-14, runs from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. The early bird cost is $30 and it goes to $40 after June 20.

Breakfast and lunch will be served free of charge and campers will also receive a free T-shirt.

Activities coming up at the YMCA

The Avenue B YMCA has several camps coming and activities coming up.

The YMCA is offering three different camps this summer — The YMCA Camps, the “Y” Adventure Camp and a sports camp.

The YMCA Camp takes place July 11 through July 15.

Activities for the event include art, photography, swimming, karate, the Growing Green Program, crafts and other activities.

The cost is $75 per camp and participants need to bring a swimsuit, towel, closed toe shoes, a bag for wet clothes and sunscreen.

The adventure camp occurs July 25 through July 29 with an $85 fee.

The activities include art, crafts, swimming, the Growing Green Program, ascending, repelling and overnight camp on that Thursday. Parents are welcome and invited to participate.

The sports camp, which is $75, features basketball, baseball, swimming, volleyball, karate and arts and games.

It is June 27 through July 1.

Besides the camps, the YMCA is offering swimming lessons June 13-17, June 20-24, July 4-8 and July 18-22. Lessons are 11 a.m. until noon and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.

A one-hour lesson class costs $60 per week. Private lessons are $120 and those times are scheduled to suit.

The YMCA also offers membership. It is $30 per month for a single membership, $70 a month for a family membership and $55 for a husband a wife.

They offer discounts for military, law enforcement officers, firefighters and RCC employees.

The membership includes basketball court, swimming pool, handball court, skateboard park and 24/7 access to the fitness center. There is also a discount for other classes held at the “Y.”

Camp childcare after hours are $25 extra per camper and run from 8:30 a.m. through 10 a.m. and 4-6 p.m.

All camps have alternate activities for youth.

British Soccer Camp heading to Franklinton

The Franklinton Youth Soccer Association is having its third annual British Soccer Camp from Monday, July 18 through Friday, July 22.

Early registration for the event, which takes place at the FYSA Soccer Fields on Boat Ramp Road, ends Friday, June 3.
