Robert Lee Nicholson, 79 was called home to be with the Lord on June 10, 2016. A native of Madison, Ms, he was the son of the late Marie Nicholson Brown and Charley Nicholson.

He moved to New Orleans in 1951 with his mother after the death of his father. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. He was baptized at Prayer Tower COGIC at the age of 12. He had a long career as an Environmental Specialist for US Environmental Services. He was a member of Historic St. James Baptist Church where he served as a greeter and an usher. He formerly served as the president of the Usher Board.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia Trigs Nicholson; two sisters, Verdel Comeaux and Bridget Allen; his children Robert Harper (Marina), Dwana and Dawn Nicholson, Michael Griffin, Denean Trigs-Keys (Rodney), Troyling Trigs, Dana Trigs Irving (Louis), Arthur Trigs (Rica), and Alvin Trigs (Jencey); 20 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; Godchildren David Williams, Jewel Broadway, and Denise Carter; Aunts Minnie Hunt of New Orleans, Mary Frances Sanders and Annie Ruth Morris of Brookhaven, MS.; and special caregivers Vanessa Keys and Harry Cummins. He will be missed by many family and friends including members of the Tree of Hope Club.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at Historic St. James Baptist Church followed by the funeral service starting at 11 a.m. with Rev. George T. Burris – Pastor Officiating. Interment: St. James Cemetery.
