William Stogner Jr.

William Rankin Stogner Jr., born on July 2, 1941, in Tylertown, Miss., passed away at the age of 74 on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa.

He retired from Double D Meat Company after 32 years. He was a Korean War veteran in the U.S. Army. He was of the Baptist Faith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Betty June Wheat Stogner; four step-children, June Wheat Stafford (Pug), Robert Bobby Wheat, Beverly Wheat Martin (Billy) and Charles Ray Wheat (Sandi); two sisters, Peggy Brewton and Katie Collins (Ken); nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; as well as a very special grandson, Scott Harrel Wheat (Nikki).

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Rankin Stogner Sr. and Dixie Lott Stogner; one son, Rankin Stogner; one step-daughter, Brenda Wheat Taylor; three sisters and four brothers.

Visitation will be held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Friday, April 15, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Visitation will continue at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Saturday, April 16, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Bro. Joe Ray Wheat and Rev. Billy Kent Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Ponemah Cemetery.
