Wanda Nell Fisher Thomas

Wanda Nell Fisher Thomas, 86, a resident of Franklinton, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2016 at Forest Manor Nursing Home in Covington.

She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Franklinton, where she attended the A.W. Robbins Sunday school class.

Wanda began her nursing career by attending the Elizabeth Sullivan School in Bogalusa before graduating from the Baylor University School of Nursing in Waco, Texas. She later completed her training at the Charity Hospital School of Anesthesia.

Wanda worked at the Bogalusa Medical Center and later Riverside Medical Center before retiring in 1986. She was a member of the Winterset Club and loved her Washington Parish community. Wanda enjoyed reading, traveling and studying history. She was always a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine Thomas Doiron and Mark J. Doiron Sr. of Baton Rouge, and Nancy Thomas Miller and Jerry Paul Miller Jr. of Madisonville; daughter-in-law, Diane B. Thomas of Franklinton; seven grandchildren, Mark J. Doiron II, Shannon Rebecca Doiron, Patrick Thomas Miller, Jackson Curtis Miller, Jessie Wayne Thomas, John Travis Thomas and Matthew Pierre Thomas; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Matthew Thomas; a son, Curtis Allen Thomas; her parents, Benjamin Morris Fisher and Fleda Erwin Fisher; and two brothers, J.M. Fisher and Billy Fisher.

Visitation will be at Crain Funeral Home on Friday, Feb. 26, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Paul Watts and Dr. Joe Baugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be David Sylvest, John Phares, Mark Phares, Harold Thomas, Ronnie Thomas and Randy Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jessie Thomas, John Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Mark Doiron II, Patrick Miller and Jackson Miller; and brother-in-law, J.S. Thomas.
