A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Lorena Olevia Tynes Crain, 95, a native of Stateline, returned to her heavenly Father on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016 after a long and meaningful life.

She was married to Lucious Ovede Crain for 51 years, who preceded her in death in 1994.
Our beloved, Lorena, would want to be remembered for her love and devotion to her Savior. She served God and spent over 30 years as a Sunday school teacher at Stateline Missionary Baptist Church. She moved to Baton Rouge for eight years and joined Parkview Baptist Church.

She lived in the Woodlands in Houston, Texas, for four years and joined The Woodlands Baptist Church. She had a kind and gentle soul and tried to live her life according to the Word of God. She recently said, “I have always been a Christian but have a better understanding of how the Bible applies to my life as I have gotten older.” Lorena also cherished her family and friends and the time spent with them.

She is survived by her only child, Mary Ellen Gowens and her husband, James Gowens; her grandson, Joseph Crain; her granddaughter, Elona Crain Sharbaugh and her husband, Kyle Sharbaugh; her great-grandchildren, Olevia and Alyssa Sharbaugh; her sister, Doris Tynes; and her brother, Loyd Tynes.

Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, at Stateline Missionary Baptist Church, located at 31384 Highway 62 in Angie. Services will follow at 2 p.m. in the church.
