Centreville defeats Buccaneers

The fourth quarter proved to be Bowling Green’s undoing, as the Buccaneers fell to visiting Centreville Academy on Thursday, 48-38.
Bowling Green led 14-11 after one quarter and 29-19 at halftime. The Buccaneers continued to lead 32-28 after three quarters, but Centreville outscored them 20-6 in the final quarter.
Jordan Barnes tied for the team lead with eight points, and also had a team-high nine rebounds. Lane Adams also scored eight points in the loss.
Jonathon Smith and Reedy Austin scored six points each for the Buccaneers. Conner Comeaux scored five points, Corbin Garris added three points, and Peyton Richardson finished with two.
Adams finished with eight rebounds, while Garris and Matt Pierce had three each. Reedy Austin and Comeaux had two rebounds.
Barnes led the Buccaneers with three assists, and Garris had a team-high two steals.
Bowling Green trailed 19-18 at one point in the second quarter, before going on an 11-0 run to take the lead at halftime.
Adams hit two free throws and Smith knocked down a field goal. Comeaux followed with a 3-pointer, and Barnes and Smith each hit 2-pointers.
Bowling Green led 32-30 early in the fourth quarter, before Centreville moved in front with a 3-pointer with 5:10 left in the game. That shot started a 16-0 run for the visitors.
Garris broke the run late in the quarter when he hit a 3-pointer to cut Centreville’s lead to 46-35.
The Buccaneers will travel to face Silliman Institute on Tuesday.
