Johnny D. Sykes

Johnny D. Sykes was born on Jan. 30, 1958, to the late Sarah Cotton and Johnny Johnson.

He was reared by the late Sarah Oliver and Jessie Kilpatrick. He attended school in the Bogalusa School System until he moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where he finished.

He leaves to mourn his passing one daughter, Monique Bell; two sisters, Debra Cotton and Kim (Micheal) Cheese; three brothers, William Cotton, Kenneth Johnson and Domet Dooley, all of Bogalusa; five grandchildren, Miniya Bell, A’yanna Harris, Tamia Harris, Celliaa Harris and Za’Riya Harris; two special aunts, Arlene Weary (Rodney) Lewis and Rose Dooley; two special cousins, Evelyn Dooley of Bogalusa and Diane Keller of Chicago, Ill.; and Jessie Kilpatrick of Los Angeles who reared him; and also a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Essie Mae Dooley and Rosie Williams.

Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 14, from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home of Bogalusa. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Crain and Sons Funeral Home in Bogalusa, with Minister Domet Dooley officiating.

Interment will be in Bogalusa Cemetery.
