One of the great yearly events in Bogalusa is just a week away.

The Bogalusa Blues & Heritage Festival is taking place Sept. 25-26 at Cassidy Park and the organizers have another full schedule of music and events for people of all ages.

The event gets under way Sept. 25 at the Blues Stage with performance times at 5 p.m., 6:15 p.m. and 8 p.m.

The following day features a full schedule on the Blues Stage and the Heritage Stage.

There will be music at the Heritage Stage Schedule with performances beginning at 11:30 a.m. The last performance of the night starts at 6:15 p.m.

The Blues Stage’s performances begin at noon. The final start time is 8:45 p.m. Besides the on-stage events, there are events throughout the day that Saturday, Sept. 26.

The event schedule begins with the 5K run/walk Saturday, which begins at 8 a.m., with onsite registration at 7 a.m.

At 10 a.m., parish high school bands open the festival with parade around the park. Also at 10 a.m., opening ceremonies get under way, the Native American & Pioneer Museums open, canoeing on the Bogue Lusa Creek gets started and the Kids Zone opens. Some of the things in the kids zone are spacewalks, train rides, scavenger hunts and face paintings.

At 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., there is a drumming circle with Andrew Wiseman for children. The Cajun Canvas Art Classes are at 11:30 a.m. The 30-minute classes are scheduled all day. At noon and 4 p.m., Greyhawk Perkins will share stories of Native Americans, and a harmonica workshop with the Crescent City Harmonica Club is at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
