Charles Mullings Jr.

Charles Kerrison Mullings Jr., 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 at Our Lady of Angels Hospital in Bogalusa. Mr. Charles was a faithful member of ESM United Methodist Church. He retired as assistant chief of the Bogalusa Fire Department. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 24 and a U.S. Army veteran.

Mr. Mullings is survived by his wife, Sharon Matheny Mullings of Bogalusa; three sons, Charles K. (Carole) Mullings IV of Maggie Valley, N.C., Patrick (Sherry) Mullings of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and John (Donna) Mullings of Prairieville; a daughter, Allison Mullings (Jay) Brignac of Gonzales; a brother, Robert E. (Claudette) Mullings of Reidsville, N.C.; his mother-in-law, Lily Matheny of Bogalusa; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his sons, Mary S. Mullings.

Visitation was Sunday evening, Aug. 2, 2015, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home and opened again Monday morning, Aug. 3, 2015, at 9 a.m. until the funeral at 10 a.m. in the chapel. The Rev. Bill Moon officiated and interment followed at Ponemah Cemetery.

The family would like to express special thanks to the doctors, nursing staff and respiratory therapist at Our Lady of Angels Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to ESM United Methodist Church.
