Traffic flow near Bogalusa Walmart to change

Bogalusa Police Chief Joe Culpepper said citizens should be aware of upcoming changes in traffic flow.

Culpepper said the 400 block of Shenandoah Street — between Superior Avenue and Walmart — will be changed to one way. He said the flow of traffic will be to the north.

Culpepper said citizens who want to go to Walmart can do so by turning off Superior Avenue north to Shenandoah.

However, citizens leaving Walmart must turn left or right on Ontario Avenue, then go to the stop light on Cumberland Street.

Culpepper said the moves were made by the Planning and Zoning Commission.

This was done to relieve congestion for the 18-wheelers at the intersection,” Culpepper said. “We can also make it a little safer for people.”

Culpepper said the new traffic flow will take effect in approximately 10 days.
