Pine’s Clark qualifies for regionals in 2 events

Pine’s Keeli Clark advanced to the regional meet in a pair of events by coming in the top four at the District 8-2A Meet Monday at the St. Scholastica Academy Sports Complex.

Clark finished runner up in the long jump (14-9) and fourth during the 100 meters (14.19) to advance.

Teammate Alexandra Fersh was third in the long jump (13-8).

Archbishop Hannan’s Caroline Standley, who was the overall and field Most Valuable Player, won the long jump at 16-0.5.

Pope John Paul II’s Jessica Feraci captured the 100 in 13.92.

Monday’s meet was a qualifying event. The top four finishers from each event move to the Region 3-AA, which is Tuesday at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond.

The top five from each event gave their squads points in the team competition.

Archbishop Hannan won the team part with 218 points.

Pope John Paul II (55) was second, followed by Pine (25) and Northlake Christian School, (23) and Mt. Hermon (3) rounded out the five-team field.

Two locals qualified in the 200, as Pine’s Victoria Luper (29.59) and Mt. Hermon’s Alison Prat (31.70) ran third and fourth, respectively.

Standley won the event in 29.02.

Pine’s Cresencia Lee (1:26) was fourth in the 400, as Hannan’s Miranda Kramer ran a 1:04 to win the race.

Pine’s 4×100 team is headed to the regional meet after a second-place finish (57.10).

The team included Fersh, Clark, Chelsea Rogers and Taledrianna Gordon.

Hannan won the event in 55.68.

Hannan’s Aimee Guillot was the track MVP.

Also locally, Mt. Hermon’s Patera Williams (14.46) was fifth in the 100.

Pine’s Lee finished fifth in the 800 (3:45), with Guillot winning in 2:46.
