This year’s Blues Fest should be one to remember

It appears organizers of the Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival have hit another one out of the park.
The fourth annual 2015 Blues Fest is scheduled for Sept. 25-26 at Cassidy Park. The lineup was just announced and The Fabulous Thunderbirds are scheduled to perform on Sept. 26 on the Blues Stage.
The Fabulous Thunderbirds are nationally known. Their hits, “Tuff Enough” and “Wrap It Up,” are simply blues anthems to those of us of a certain age group.
You can rest assured, Cassidy Park will be rocking and rolling that evening. And that’s just the headliner on the Blues Stage.
Dwayne Dopsie and The Zydeco Hellraisers make a return appearance to the festival. Dopsie was the headliner on the Heritage Stage last year and will do so again on Sept. 26.
The musicial bill of fare also includes third-generation musician Tyrone Vaughan, who will be playing with Royal Southern Brotherhood. He is the son of blues guitarist Jimmie Vaughan and nephew of blues icon Stevie Ray. Tyrone Vaughan performs on Sept. 26 on the Blues Stage, just before The Fabulous Thunderbirds take the stage.
Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival Executive Director Malinda White just keeps it coming. All the festival volunteers also deserve a lot of credit.
Estimates had 7,500 fans attending last year’s festival. The 2015 lineup should top last year’s attendance with its headliners and other performers.
Congratulations to the Bogalusa Blues and Heritage Festival organizers for another job well done.
