Dear Editor:

On Feb. 27, the Bogalusa City School System published a resolution calling for a special election on May 2 “to authorize the levy of a special tax” of 6.43 mills “on all property subject to taxation within the District.”

The Formal Notice in headed up, in large bold letters so everyone will see it, “PROPOSITION MILLAGE RENEWAL.”

This is distasteful to me to have to make this accusation, but there’s no other way to say it. The use of the word “RENEWAL” is a purposeful untruth on someone’s part.

This will be a new or additional tax stacked on top of the 62.81 mills they are already extracting from us. If you question this, just go by the courthouse and get a printout on their tax structure.
