The theme for the 2015 Washington Parish Free Fair is “Making Memories, Making Progress.”

The 2015 Fair is scheduled for Oct. 21-24 at the Washington Parish Fair Grounds in Franklinton.

Washington Parish Free Fair Board of Directors member Adrian Roshto came up with the 2015 theme. Roshto hails from the Mt. Hermon area.

“The theme is about memories that people have of each fair,” Fair Association Secretary Kaye Ladner said. “We have special memories of each fair. Some of the changes we made last year included moving the camper trailers from the fairgrounds, and we cleaned it up. We utilized the space in the back of the property and put the campers there. It was decided to put all the trailers at one site out of sight of our visitors.”

Ladner said the association always welcomes volunteers to help during the fair. She said the 2014 fair took advantage of some of its younger volunteers.

“We got some new, young volunteers last year. We need some younger board members for the committees,” Ladner said. “We encourage young people to get involved with the fair because youth is our future.”

Ladner said the theme would be utilized in every aspect during the 2015 fair.

“The fair catalog, parade floats and clubs will use that theme to decorate their floats,” Ladner said. “The Flower House on the Fairgrounds will use the theme to do their flower arrangements. The Education Building Committee encourages students to used the theme for their essays and posters.”

Ladner said board members and committee members submit fair themes each year. The Board then selects the winning theme.

The 2014 fair theme was “The Fair, the Spirit of Washington Parish.”
