Nellie Bounds

Nellie Claire Spears Bounds, age 80 and a resident of Franklinton, died at 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2015, at her daughter’s home.

She was a longtime active member of Stateline United Pentecostal Church who loved her church family and donated her time to the betterment of the church. Nellie enjoyed cooking for her family and those in need. She was very highly thought of amongst her community because of her concern for others and her willingness to help. Nellie was always a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother to her adoring family, and she cherished the time spent with all the young ones.

She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce Wilkins, Judy and Daryl Burnthorn, Linda and Kenneth Dugas and Barbara and Mark Newman, all of Franklinton; son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Gina Bounds of Tylertown; nine grandchildren and spouses, Brandon and Mallory Wilkins, Davana Wilkins, Darren and Lorie Burnthorn, Kerri and Wayne Fortenberry, Brooke Dugas, Ashley and Mark Wilson, Crystal Newman, Andy and Jessica Bounds and Chase and Casey Bounds; 12 great-grandchildren, Ian Wilkins, Halle Burnthorn, Kylie Burnthorn, Lincoln Burnthorn, Logan Fortenberry, Sawyer Fortenberry, Emma Wilson, Jack Wilson, Charlee Passman, Avaree Passman, Connor Bounds and Gracie Bounds; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgia and Don Cantrell of Robert and Brenda and Jon Hebert of Denham Springs; brother and sister-in-law, Billy and Vinnie Spears of Thomas; and four sisters-in-law, Nola Spears, Margaret Spears, Jo Anna Spears and Linda Spears. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Bounds; her parents Andrew Spears and Martha Dean Spears; and six brothers, Herbert, Howard, Bobby, E.T., Harvey and H.W. Spears.

Visitation was at Stateline United Pentecostal Church Saturday, March 14, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. and will continue after 10 a.m. on Sunday. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. W.L. Tullos, the Rev. George Ridge, the Rev. Leon Hickman and grandsons Brandon Wilkins and Darren Burnthorn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The pallbearers are Chase Bounds, Andy Bounds, Darren Burnthorn, Brandon Wilkins, Wayne Fortenberry and Heath Spears
