Edward Emmons

Edward Dale Emmons, a resident of Bogalusa, age 79, born on Nov. 12, 1935, in Newton, Miss., passed away on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at Good Samaritans Nursing Home in Franklinton.

He was a veteran and served in the National Guard of Louisiana and as a reserve of the Army of the United States.

Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the highlight of his life, and he made them who they are today.

He is survived by his wife, Lydia R. Emmons; two daughters, Tammy Thomas and Karen (Steve) Miley; one son, Dale (Amy) Emmons; two sisters, Christine Herd and Marion Davis; seven grandchildren, Lindsey Thomas, Andrew Thomas, Emily Thomas, Christopher (Sierra) Emmons, Logan Emmons, Kyle Miley and Kalli (Daniel) Ricau; two great-grandchildren, Miley Grace Ricau and Ellie Kate Ricau; his sister-in-law, Vivian Rowe; his brother-in-law, William Rowe; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Isom N. Emmons and Myrtle Goolsby Emmons.

Visitation was held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2015, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The funeral services were held at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Greg Whaley officiating. The interment followed at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.
