Franklinton Youth Soccer Association registration
The Franklinton Youth Soccer Association is holding registration for the spring season. Boys and girls ages 3-18 are eligible, and new players much bring a birth certificate.
Signups take place over the next two Saturdays, Jan. 24 and 31, in the Franklinton Junior High School cafeteria from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The cost is $55 for U4-U12 age groups, and $65 for U14s and up. The fee includes uniform and insurance. Games are scheduled to begin in mid-March. For more information, call 985-515-9047 or 985-839-4451.
Pine athletic fundraiser
The Pine High School football and baseball teams are having their annual fundraiser to help support the costs of equipment and other necessary funds.
They will be selling signs to be placed on the concession stand and dugout.
The cost for each sign is $150 per year. When the signs become too worn, they will replace the sign free of charge.
The signs will be displayed for the entire baseball and football seasons.
Also, attack a business card with business information to go on your sign.
SLU Alumni Game, First Pitch Banquet
The Southeastern Louisiana University baseball program will host its annual Alumni Game and First Pitch Banquet, allowing fans multiple opportunities to interact with the 2015 squad Feb. 7. To kick off the day, the Lions will host an alumni game. Admission to the game is free and features Lion baseball alumni squaring off against the 2015 team. Batting practice starts at 10:30 a.m. and first pitch is slated for noon. at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.
The Lions will host the First Pitch Banquet at 7 p.m. in the third-floor ballroom of SLU’s War Memorial Student Union. Tickets are $50, and allows fans the chance to meet and dine with the team. A pair of senior players are slated to speak at the banquet.
At the banquet, head coach Matt Riser will present the Lion For Life Award. Presented annually, the award goes to the Lion baseball alumnus who best represents the program through community involvement. Greg Marten, Ruth Kenelly and Gary Sandifer have received the award in the past.
Banquet tickets are available through the baseball office at 985-549-3566. Baseball alumni wishing to participate in the game can contact Riser in the baseball office.
