Peggy Ellender Bickham Harvey was born June 22, 1943, in Franklinton. She was the third child born to Mr. Simmie Sr. and Luna Bickham. She was called home on Jan. 14, 2015.

While residing in Los Angles, Peggy was employed by Newman’s, Buchaltor and Fields Law Firm in the accounting department for 10 years. As she broadened her reach she gained employment as the attendance supervisor at Hoffman Middle School in Aldine Independent School District. Being very passionate about education Peggy pursued her bachelor’s degree in physical education, with a minor in history from Texas Southern University. Peggy later pursued her master’s in education from Texas Southern University. She also was head of the eighth grade curriculum counselor. This brought great happiness and fulfillment to her professional career until she retired in 2002.

She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Keith (Aretha) and Kevin Harvey; her brother Robert Bickham; special companion, Mr. Tommy Yancy; special daughter, Tonya Dixon; five godchildren, Jordan Graves, Brooke Harvey, Cedric Jones, Eric Pogue and Gregory Deese; two granddaughters, Korie Strawder and Kristian Harvey; brothers-in-law, Ross Harvey (Sarah), Harvell Harvey (Ellen) and Larry Harvey; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Alfred, Pearlean Sims, Catherine Harvey and Becky Harvey; and host of nieces, nephews, cousin and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Bonny Ray Harvey; her parents, Simmie Sr. and Luna Bickham; her sister, Diana Dillon; and her brother, Simmie Jr.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Hayes United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Barbara Gibson, pastor of church, and the Rev. Terrence August, eulogist.
