Bogalusa High School’s performances of “Yes, Virginia: The Musical” are tonight and Saturday at 6 p.m. in the high School auditorium.

Admission is $5.

Bogalusa High School received a grant of $1,000 from Macy’s to perform the musical. Performances of the play are scattered around the country.

In 1897, Virginia O’Hanlon wrote a letter to the New York Sun, asking “Is there a Santa Claus?” She taught the world to believe, and now her story is coming to life in a musical from Macy’s.

Any school can perform the show royalty-free. Macy’s donated $100,000 in production grants to theaters and music programs to put the show on.

Macy’s has assembled a Musical School and a team of theater experts to share their advice on such matters as set design, music, directing the play, hair and makeup and various other things that go along with a play.
