Sister Annie Rose Smith, age 78, a resident of Bogalusa and the beloved daughter of the late Lucille Peters and Henry “Buddy” Husband, was born on Nov. 5, 1936, and departed this life on Nov. 22, 2014, in the St. Tammany Parish Hospital in Covington.

She leaves to mourn a devoted loving daughter, Teresa Peters of Arlington, Texas; a special niece-daughter she helped raise as her own, Monique (Lawrence) Morris of Bogalusa; four grandchildren, Calvin “CJ” Gavion Jr. and Kionne Gavion of New Orleans; Elvery Peters and Alyssa Peters of Arlington, Texas; a son-in-law, Calvin Gavion Sr. of New Orleans; Four sisters, Barbara Williams, Shirley Peters, Janice (Joe) Pigott and Rose Rayford of Bogalusa; one sister-in-law, Betty Smith Williams of New Orleans; two brothers-in-law, Percy Smith of Tucson, Ariz.,; Edward Smith of Aurora, Texas; a host of nieces near and dear to her heart, Deloris (Eddie) Walker, Donna Allen, Denise Jordan, Odette (Edward) Doty, Wanda (Rick) McCullough, Chandra Rayford and Bridget (Parvez) Scott; a host of special nephews, Anthony Pigott, Henry “Man” Rayford and Christopher Williams; three special friends, Wilkie Bell and Joyce Hutchinson of Bogalusa and John Quinn of Baton Rouge; and a host of great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Husband and Lucille Peters; her late husband, Lindzey Ray Smith; a daughter, Gwendolyn Gavion; a brother, Albert Peters; a sister, Doris Peters; an uncle, Clarence Peters; and two nieces, Valerie Peters-Haynes and Tammy Williams-Miller.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014, from 2 until 6 p.m., with a family hour from 6 until 7 p.m. The funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church, with the Rev. Raymond Mims officiating. Interment will follow in Bogalusa Cemetery.
