Casey Lewis passed from this life on Nov. 13, 2014, at the age of 45.

He was a man whose heart held wisdom beyond his years, and to those who knew him well, he was a great inspiration and blessing. He loved nature and often said that the woods and rivers of Washington Parish, where his footsteps still echo, were his church. He and his dearest friend in life, Kelley Dupont, hunted and fished these woods and rivers as often as time allowed, making memories all along the way. In his solitude, Casey enjoyed nurturing and growing green plants and unusual flowers. He was a true woodsman and naturalist in every sense of the word.

He leaves behind to mourn his loss his mother and stepfather, Sundra and Ron Hauck; his sister and brother-in-law, Lindy and Josh Dupre of Baton Rouge; and two nephews, Tyler and Austin Dupre of Baton Rouge. Another person who touched Casey’s life with great kindness and who cannot go unmentioned here is Ed “Dounnie” DeCoursey.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Dugy and Glyn Watts of Bogalusa.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 6 p.m.

The funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at Annunciation Catholic Church at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Father Daniel Brouillette and Father Lawrence Phelps, O.S.B., officiating. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Covington.
