Lucille Brister

Mrs. Lucille Brumfield Brister, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lefelder Brumfield, was born Oct. 24, 1927, and departed this life on Nov. 4, 2014, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Franklinton.

She was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and a very loving and caring mother and grandmother.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014, at Crain and Sons Funeral Home, 809 E. Third St. in Bogalusa, from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m., followed by a family hour from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, 841 E. Sixth St. in Bogalusa, with the Rev. Douglas Hart, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in The Bogalusa Cemetery.

Survivors include her children, Trudy (Richard) Andrew of Bogalusa, Charles Brister of Bogalusa, Johnny (Gilda) Brister of New Orleans, Richard (Carolyn) Brister of Bogalusa, Vickey (Author) Gillan of Picayune, Miss., Barbara (Rodney) Simmons of Washington, D.C., and Michael Brister of Bogalusa; three sisters, Vernice (Isacc) Thorton of St. Louis, Ora (Leroy) Thompson of Atlanta and Emma Jean Brumfield of Chicago; two brothers, Welton (Ruth) Brumfield of Detroit and Marvin Brumfield of Chicago; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Brister; her mother and father, Lefelder and Virginia Brumfield; her sister, Vergie Lee Quinn; three brothers, Charles, Joseph and Ray Brumfield; and her grandson, Richard Brister.
