John Brown Wheat, Jr. age 84, born on March 27, 1930 in Bogalusa, passed away on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014 at his residence in Bogalusa.

He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church in Bogalusa.

He is survived by his wife, Janet P. Wheat; two sons, Brian Wheat and Jon P. Wheat; four grandchildren, Parker Wheat, Kayleigh Wheat, Connor Wheat and Kyson McArn all of Bogalusa; his sister-in-law, Elizabeth Ann (Harold) Stevenson; five nieces and two nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John Brown Wheat, Sr. and Cleo Williamson Wheat; two sisters, Hilda Middleton Branch and Bernice Wheat Dow; and a half-brother, Johnny Wheat.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014 at First Baptist Church, 541 Avenue F, Bogalusa, 70427 from 2 p.m.- 3 p.m.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. with Rev. Greg Whaley officiating. Interment follows at Ponemah Cemetery. Poole-Ritchie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
