The Bogalusa High School Army JROTC Lumberjack Battalion has volunteered to adopt the veterans plot at the Bogalusa Cemetery.

The agreement, coordinated by Bogalusa City Councilman Teddy Drummond and JROTC Instructor 1st Sgt. (ret.) Jack Rogers, consists of overall care of the two veterans plots and will include leveling headstones and grass cutting.

“Just to get it presentable,” said Rogers.

The idea initiated last May when the Lumberjack Battalion conducted a cemetery clean-up operation in preparation for Memorial Day events.

The volunteer service from the cadets will enhance their service learning and give back to the service members that served the city and the nation.

“I’d want somebody to do this for me,” said Rogers.

The Lumberjack Battalion will take all donations to assist their efforts in maintaining the cemetery. Items used for lawn care or gardening tools would be the most effective. Monetary donations will be used to buy flags for the graves.
